Vista Outdoor Controller - Bushnell Golf in San Diego, California

Job Description

This is a newly created role supporting a technology-based acquisition within Bushnell Golf. In addition, this role will support the integration of the acquisition and the existing Bushnell Golf brand into one reporting unit (part of Vista Corporation).

Role will be based in the San Diego area and will directly support the Director of Finance & Accounting for Bushnell Golf.

Candidate will be responsible for overseeing the General Accounting, A/P and monthly close functions across a multi-site and multi-ERP system.

He or she is responsible for implementing and maintaining a system of internal controls that will ensure that company assets are adequately safeguarded and that all financial reporting is prepared in compliance with all financial policies and US GAAP.

Principle Duties:

  • Provides leadership over the general accounting function, which includes inter-company accounting, cash management/reconciliation, financial reporting, balance sheet management and royalty management.

  • Major focus of the role will be to ensure compliance with ASC-606 Revenue Recognition, especially as it relates, but not limited to, Software License Sales.

  • Provide leadership and direction as it relates to capitalization of Software Development.

  • Drive improvements in the accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency of the entities accounting.

  • Accountable for ensuring that policies and procedures are in place to provide reasonable assurance that the company assets are protected.

  • Coordinates and oversees the Sarbanes Oxley activities relative to internal controls documentation and testing and segregation of duties.

  • Provides technical accounting GAAP guidance and support within the Golf Segment.

  • Ensures that company financial records, under responsibility, are maintained in compliance with company policies and US GAAP. Responsible for reviewing monthly/quarterly account reconciliations and other documents to ensure this compliance.

  • Ensures that company financial reports are prepared in compliance with policies and directives, US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.

  • Oversees the completion and submission of tax packages to the tax department for completion of income, property sales and use, payroll, and other taxes.

  • Coordinates work relating to both internal and external audits in the periodic review of the company financial records. Is further responsible for the implementation of agreed upon recommendations, related to areas of responsibility, resulting from the audit findings

  • Ensures that the accounting department is staffed with qualified financial personnel capable of meeting the objectives and responsibilities as well as finding development opportunities for these associates.

  • Assist in implementation of a new ERP and supporting systems (NetSuite).

  • Assist in due diligence and other activities surrounding current and future acquisitions and/or divestitures.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Public Accounting Experience is a Plus, but not required

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills are mandatory

  • Prior management experience required.

  • Demonstrated ability to form, lead and develop high-performing teams.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across departmental functions.

  • Experience in analyzing business performance and developing financial plans within a combined manufacturing and sourced environment desirable.

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls and financial reporting, required.
