Vista Outdoor Electrical Engineer - Camp Chef in Hyde Park, Utah
Camp Chef is a subsidiary of Vista Outdoor.
As an Electrical Engineer for Camp Chef in the engineering group you will use your skills to design and develop new products for pellet grills. Your responsibilities will include designing new controllers for pellet fired grills. Responsibilities include all aspects of the design process from concept, schematic creation, PCB layout, software design, prototyping, hardware troubleshooting, testing, quality improvement, and product support. Camp Chef is focused on delivering industry leading and innovative solutions for the outdoor cooking industry.
The ideal candidate will have an advanced knowledge of microcontrollers and skill in designing and implementing motor controllers and the ability to program in C/C++.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Create documentation, flowcharts, and user guides for new and existing software programs.
Perform routine software maintenance.
Software design, development, integration, and support activities
Actively participate in software development and automated unit testing
Design PCB Boards for grill controllers.
Generate and review system level and board level schematics.
Evaluate, analyze, and select electrical components.
Create and manage engineering documentation that meet industry standards.
Perform engineering analysis on but not limited to layout optimization, cost, and software design.
Work closely with outside suppliers to deliver prototypes on time and at cost that are aligned to business expectations.
Create functional prototypes using appropriate control and electronics hardware.
Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis on existing and future products.
Coordinate tasks with offshore suppliers with limited supervision.
Collaborate with other departments and engineering team members and purchasing department.
Designs, implements, and tests embedded firmware for hardware control and product user interfaces.
Design and debug electrical components and subsystems which include analog and digital circuit design, integration of microprocessors, schematics, BOMs, and PCB layout.
Manage technical interactions with suppliers for electronic hardware.
3-8 years in real-time embedded software development in C/C++/C#, admin of Linux and real-time OS’s (FreeRTOS).
Knowledge of common electronic components and able to read circuit design schematics.
Software debug and hardware troubleshooting.
Experience setting up and deploying a CI/CD workflow (Gitlab/Github, Jenkins)
Experience with embedded system design principles and best practices.
Microprocessor system design.
Experience with embedded peripherals and interface busses such as I2C, I2S, SPI, USB, UART.
Experience with source code management and collaboration tools (Git, GitHub, Jira, Confluence)
Standard tools operation: Oscilloscope, multimeter, logic analyzer.
Schematic Capture, PCB Layout, analog and digital circuit design.
Experience using highly automated software development processes and modern tools (git, continuous integration, etc.)
Ability to read schematics and perform basic hardware debugging desired.
Minimum Education Required
Bachelors. Required field of study CS, CE or EE, or equivalent
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Employee will be sitting the majority of the time, with some walking and standing. Manual dexterity for extensive computer work and writing.
Work is done in an office environment. Co-worker support, guidance and reinforcement are readily available.
